Top CV Tips

When applying for jobs, CV’s are often the first impression you make on your potential employer.

It is imperative to make this a positive impression and a carefully constructed CV will go a long way towards doing this.

Here are Coyle’s TOP CV TIPS!

  • Use good quality heavy weight paper and a sensible, easy to read font.
  • Keep to the point using short sentences and bullet points. A CV of over 2 pages is too long!
  • Structure your CV logically and avoid leaving gaps. BE HONEST! If you went travelling for a year, say so!
  • DO mention your hobbies and interests, but keep it short and at the end of your CV. This way, its there if they want to read it, but doesn’t take over…
  • Spell Check, re read and double check… Spell Check, re read and double check…Spell Check, re read and double check…you get the idea, get a friend or family member to help too.
  • Spell Check, re read and double check (did I already say that?!)
  • Post your CV 1st Class. Those extra pennies spent on postage will be become extra pounds in the bank when you get the job!
